Marine Science & Ecology
I am an ecologist and marine scientist. I investigate how marine plants and animals respond, for better or worse, to our changing environment (see Google Scholar).
I am passionate about cephalopods and fish and "weedy" ecology, as well as using biominerals to unlock the environmental and biological histories of animals. I also work with the fishing industry to establish sustainable seafood industries.

Science communication research
I am on a mission to boost the readability and readership of what scientists write, particularly peer-reviewed publications.
I have researched, published and traveled - learning what catches the eye of the reader and the media. My creative approach to scientific writing has caught the attention of Nature, PNAS, Trends in Ecology & Evolution, The Conversation, the Australian Academy of Science, and numerous research institutions in Australia and abroad.
